Extra Free Mod

So today during west civ, Mr. Schick thought that we only had mod 2 for the class but we actually had 2 & 3 so we had mod 3 off! But before that, we got our textbooks for class and took notes. My textbook is in really bad condition which sucks but I just hope I don't lose it! Anyways, here are the notes from todays class:
  • Prehistoric Era
    • the origins & ages of humans
      • 200,000 - human species emerged from Southwestern Africa
      • 14,000 - world wide human race existed
      • Paleolithic age (earliest era - stone age)
      • Neolithic age (marked by using tools - new stone age)
    • Initially, humans were part of migratory groups which hunted, fished & gathered.
      • Ag. Revolution (Neolithic Revolution)
        • shift from hunting and gathering to farming
        • populations rose (able to care for young)
        • hierarchies appeared
        • invention of wheel & plow
        • villages were polytheistic
    • Sumer
      • occupied land between Tigris & Euphrates rivers
      • population increased drastically from food
      • cities and towns were founded (+40,000)
      • better food storage (more diverse jobs)
      • Kings emerged & families took over
      • invented the earliest form of writing called "cuneiform"
